Relais Casali della Cisterna is a historic residence in Belgirate, on the Piedmont shore of the lake between Stresa and Arona. In 1827 the estate was a wedding gift to Princess Luisa Dal Pozzo della Cisterna; today the houses of the marquises’ sailors and gardeners have become lake-view suites and rooms, surrounded by a park more than two hundred years old.

Two 19th-century houses
Each house has its own story and its own suites, all with views of Lake Maggiore.
Casa dei Marinai, the Sailors’ House
The yellow house, home to the sailors who prepared the marquises’ boats for the regattas on the lake. The suites are named after sailing boats.

Casa dei Giardinieri, the Gardeners’ House
The red house, behind the yellow one, was home to those who tended the villa’s park. Its rooms and suites are named after the park’s plants.

Two hundred years of trees and blooms
Californian sequoias, incense cedars, camellias, azaleas, hydrangeas and giant bamboo in a park overlooking the lake. The gallery also includes a video of the hydrangeas in bloom, a flowering calendar and a botanical map of 36 specimens.
